PINEVILLE — The Fourth of July celebration at Pineville has expanded already. The sponsors of the event decided to expand the Ping Pong Drop event as interest in the celebration builds. Presently more than 2,000 ping balls have been sold, and they will be dropped from the fire department’s ladder truck. The event is scheduled for those children 14 years of age and younger.

Certain balls will have prizes, including cash. There will be a total of $350 in cash given away along with toys, games, movie passes, a CD player and more. The event will be at 8 p.m. on the Fourth of July on the Courthouse Square, across from Total Care.

The four-day celebration will begin July 3 with a carnival each day, and events are scheduled all four days. The celebration is sponsored by Main Street Downtown and the City of Pineville.
