NEW TAZEWELL, Tenn. — Claiborne County Sheriff deputies continue to look into a burglary that occurred June 22 at Midway School in New Tazewell.

According to Sheriff David Ray, the school sustained a robbery of several thousands of dollars worth of items. One suspect has been arrested and charged while another is still at large.

Matthew Bunch has been charged in the burglary, said Ray. Bunch and Joseph E. White of Lily, Ky., entered the school in the early morning hours and took a number of items. Some of those items have been recovered; however, deputies are still looking for several printers, TV’s and computers, according to Ray.

The department is still looking for White who is described as a white male standing six feet tall and weighting 160 pounds. He has hazel eyes and is 30 years old. Chief Inspector David Honeycutt says White has an extensive criminal record. He and Ray ask that anyone with any information concerning White or the burglary to call the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department at (423) 626-2501 or 911 in Claiborne County.

An additional charge has been placed against Bunch. He reportedly had in his possession a 1996 Dodge pickup truck that was stolen in 2006 in Claiborne County. That vehicle was recovered by Ray and Honeycutt during their investigation of the school theft.
