Otis "Oat" William Smith "Smitty", age 90, of Thorn Hill, passed away July 11, 2007.

He served his country in The Army in WWII and in The Civilian Conservation Corps. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by parents: Jess and Geneva Beeler Smith; son: Freddie Smith; brothers: Roy Smith, Lloyd "Smokey" Smith, Vernie Brooks and Roger Brooks; sisters: Rachel Smith and Beulah Sanders.

Survivors include his sons: William J. Smith of Ohio and Robert E. Smith of Bean Station; daughter: Darlene Smith of Bean Station; brothers: Lawrence, Ed, Ted, Dale, Jerry, Tommy, and Jimmy Smith and Bill "Roundhead" Wolfe; sisters: Shirley Greene, Marthie Short, Betty Fultz, Tricia, Wilma, Sharon and Tootsie Smith, and Aldi Lovin; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; very special nieces: Carolyn Smith and Trish King; very special lady Kathleen "Kat" Ellison; very special family members: Roy, Jessica, Colby, Madison, Jason, Linda, Lucas, Joele, Asia, Dariane, Dustin, Kim, Kade, Kenzie, Michael, The whole Ellison family and everyone that was involved in his life. He was the "caretaker" of his family.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel with Rev. Terry King officiating. Music by Cleva Fish and Gladys Evans. Burial in The Wilson Cemetery with Full Military honors provided by The Veterans United Honor Guard.

Pallbearers: Jason, Roy and Dustin Smith, Dustin, Michael and Henry Ellison.
