JONESVILLE, Va. — Lee County sheriff’s deputies are looking for an armed robber. The suspect robbed the 421 Market near the Kentucky state line, north of Pennington Gap, Va., Tuesday evening.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department received a call about 8:22 p.m. Tuesday, according to Sheriff Gary Parsons. When deputies responded they were told by the store clerk that she was robbed by a single male wielding a sawed-off shotgun. She says she was alone at the time and the man demanded she give him all the money.

“The suspect is white and about six feet tall and had a thin build and had short dark, coarse hair and was wearing a bandana over his face,” stated Parsons.

Major Jimmy Woodard of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department says the robber took between $800 and $1,000 and fled on foot. However, the robbery was recorded on video tape, giving law officials several good leads, including a possible suspect.

If you have any information about the robbery call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 343-7777.
