She was a member of Grissom Island Baptist Church. She retired from Donlin Shirt Factory. A lot of folks know her as "Suze" but we all called her "Nanny". She loved little children and became "Nanny" to many people. She was always ready to cook when anyone came by for a visit. Three of her best items were: Biscuits, Turkey Dressing and Red Tater Gravy. "Nanny, we thank you for the love, guidance and heritage you handed down. We appreciate your encouragement, apologize for the disappointments and are so glad you adopted Frankie, Berneda and Cathy and raised Nikkie as your own children." We will miss you greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents: Wiley and Nancy Lee Manning; husband: George Brogan; children: Panky, Frank and Betty Brogan; great grandchildren: Justin Brogan, Brandon Seals and Mikey Epperson.
Laura leaves behind her daughter: Josie Vanover; 11 grandchildren: Mona and Roger Bolden, Lewis "Dude" and Cindy Vanover, Meta Vanover, Floyd and Leann Vanover, Gina and Nathan Taylor, Nancy Singleton, Nina Brogan, Frank and Kim Brogan, Berneda Presley, Cathy Brogan, Nikkie Brogan; 16 great grandchildren: Robert and Samantha Bolden, Hannah and Ethan Vanover, Tyler Partin and John Taylor, Charles and Brianna Singleton, Taneka and Keisha Dalton, Jessica and Kellie Brogan, Lacey and husband James Fender; one great great grandchild: James Albert Fender III (Jimmy); sisters: Margaret Griffin, Mary and Clarence Cook, Myrtle Boatright; uncle: Rev. and Mrs. Fred Manning; sisters-in-law: Velva Manning and Berneda Hipshire; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stevie Johnson and Billy Smith officiating. Songs by Harville Trio. Burial in the Brogan Cemetery.
