Born Jan. 15, 1921, at Otter Creek in Clay County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Jeff Edwards and Lillie Hubbard Edwards. She was a member of Jenson Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Gambrel Sr.; son, Doris Gambrel; granddaughter, Margaret Susan Butler; grandson, Adam Boyd Gambrel; brothers, Lawrence, Willie, Chris, Johnny, Kenneth and Reuben Edwards; sisters, Ethel Jordan, Fannie Edwards, Flora Woolum, and Kathleen Hatmaker.
Survivors include her sons Boyd (Delphia) Gambrel Jr., Page, David Gambrel, Laurel Hill, Chris (Joyce) Gambrel, Jenson, Roy (Janie) Gambrel, Jenson; daughters, Lana (Tim Goins) Gambrel, Jenson, Evelyn (Benny) Raby, Jenson, Syvella (Warren) Gilbert, Jenson; grandchildren, Doug Gilbert, Alan Gambrel, Doris Lynn Gambrel, David Gambrel, Penny Gambrel, Benny Raby Jr., Shawna Elaine Raby, Dave Gambrel, Dionne Gambrel, Anthony Gambrel, Patty Butler, Howard Butler, Mark Gambrel, Briane Gambrel, Russell Gambrel, Jennifer Coleman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Jenson Pentecostal Church with the Rev. George Neal and the Rev. Van Johnson presiding. Music will be by Euline Dozier, Jenson Church Singers, Ron Everage, and Dallene Collins.
Interment will be in Jenson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Gambrel, Howard Butler, Benny Raby, Doug Gilbert, Mark Gambrel, Russell Gambrel, Anthony Gambrel, Dave Gambrel, David Gambrel, Brian Gambrel. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Martha Combs-Woolum, Dr. Ashutosh Lohe.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, and after 11 a.m. Sunday at Jenson Pentecostal Church.
