AHTF is concerned with the critical housing needs of the very low-income, including the mentally and physically disabled and those on the verge of homelessness. The fund supports projects that assist persons at or below 60 percent of the area median income with a preference to help persons at or below 30 percent of the area median income.
“The AHTF is a very effective partnership tool that is helping improve the quality of life of many Kentuckians with critical housing needs. Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency has for nearly 40 years of experience doing just that and we are proud of helping them continue their work,” stated Ben A. Cook, chief executive officers of Kentucky Housing Corporation.
More than $40 million, to date, has been allocated from the AHTF, which is funded by a portion of mortage-related document county clerk recording fees. The AHTF has also leveraged additional investments of more than $255 million from other sources. Overall, the AHTF has financed the production of nearly 6,500 housing units for low-income and special needs Kentuckians.
