A strong defensive effort and balanced scoring led the Bell County Bobcats to a 64-46 win over Evarts in their home opener Tuesday evening.
George Wilson with 13 points and Bryan Robbins with 12 led the Bell offense.
The Bobcats got 3-pointers from Wilson and Mitchell Mays in the first quarter for a 9-6 lead.
Shawnta Zachery scored six of his nine points in the third quarter and Robbins also scored six as Bell’s lead grew to 27-19 by halftime.
The Bobcats had opportunities to pull to an even bigger lead, but hit on just four-of-ten free throw attempts in the second period.
Bell held Evarts to just nine points in the third quarter, meanwhile Wilson sank another 3 and Kyle Nelson scored four of his five points as the Bobcats led it 39-28 after three.
Wilson addd seven points in the fourth quarter, Robbins had four and Keith Lowe contributed four off the bench as Bell pulled away for the 18-point win.
Travis Helton led the Wildcats with 15 points and R.J. Fields added 13.
Bell (3-0) visits Cawood on Friday while Evarts (0-5) hosts Cumberland.

Shanoa Middleton scored 13 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead Evarts to a 54-44 win over the Bell County Lady Cats Tuesday night.
Bell led the game 32-31 after three quarters, but the Middleton and Porche Carr put the Lady Wildcats on top early in the fourth and they hit 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch to pull out the ten-point win.
Bell County was led by Mikaela Robbins with 14 points and Jamie Shepherd with 13.
Bell (0-4) visits Cawood on Friday, while Evarts (3-2) hosts Cumberland.
