Sentences handed down in Circuit Court

PINEVILLE — There have been a number of people who have been sentenced to prison or jail for several different crimes. They were given their sentences on November 19, 2007. The cases were presented by Commonwealth Attorney Karen Greene Blondell.

Brandon Bledsoe, 27, of Pineville was convicted of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and theft by deception over $300. He was sentenced to serve three years in prison on both counts which run concurrently. Bledsoe is also to pay National City Bank $300 restitution.

Chad E. Cawood, 21, of Middlesboro plead guilty to a charge of third degree burglary. He was sentenced to serve two years in prison and that sentence will run consecutively with a conviction of third degree burglary where he received a term of three years. He received another three year sentence on a conviction of third degree burglary along with a 12 month sentence in the Bell County Jail for theft by unlawful taking or disposition under $300, for a total sentence of eight years, in prison and 12 months in jail.

Rebecca Ann Collins /aka/ Yancey, 37, of New Tazewell has been sentenced to five years in prison, for uttering a false/forged prescription, first offense. She has been sentenced to serve a total of five years in prison.

Andre Sammy Witherspoon, 25, of Middlesboro has plead guilty to two counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The sentences are to run concurrently with each other, but that the sentences will run consecutively with the sentence imposed as a result of Witherpoons probation revocation of a crime committed in 2003.

Joseph Oniska West, 45, of Manchester was sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail for third degree terroristic threatening. That sentence will run concurrently with the sentence imposed in a 2006 Bell County indictment.

Michael R. Taylor, 34, of Pineville has been convicted of first degree attempted robbery; first degree possession of a controlled substance; first degree possession of controlled substance; second degree persistent felony offender. Taylor has been sentenced to 10 years in the penitentiary for first degree attempted robbery and such sentence under being a second degree persistent felony offender and sentenced to five years for first degree possession of a controlled substance and first degree possession of a controlled substance. The sentences will run concurrently with each other.

Geoffrey R. Hoskins, 32, of Wallins Creek has pleaded guilty to first degree possession of a controlled subsistence; tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest. Hoskins has been sentenced to two years in prison for first degree possession of a controlled substance and tampering wit physical evidence and 12 months in the Bell County Jail for resisting arrest.

George Dixon, 38, of Middlesboro has been sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail but he actually served 90 days in jail for second or greater offense of prescription controlled substance not in original container; second degree possession of a controlled substance; third degree possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property under $300. Dixon is to be placed on supervised probation for 24 months.
