PINEVILLE — The Bell County Holler Crawlers, an ATV club seeking to build an ATV park to promote adventure tourism within the county, decided after some deliberation to retain their name.

Several entities within the county have come together with this ATV club to express their interests in promoting adventure tourism.

Bell County Judge-Executive Albey Brock opened the club’s most recent meeting by thanking those in attendance for their interest. Vaughn & Melton Architecture and Engineering’s Clint Goodin discussed the status of a grant that could pay for the mapping of the proposed ATV park at Mountain Drive. Magistrate Rick Cornett was present at the meeting in a show of support for the club. Bell County Tourism Director Judy Barton expressed concerns about the name of the future ATV park.

Club President Jon Grace and Judge Brock addressed concerns from residents in the Cubbage area. Both men assured residents that they would take every step possible to preserve the interests of the people of that area. Grace reassured members that the club and park project is dedicated to helping improve the local community and does not wish to have a negative impact. Grace asks that anyone with a concern about the club and project attend the club’s next regular meeting. “I encourage everyone with land adjacent to mountain drive to come too so they can get some information on what is taking place,” Grace stated.

19 people joined the club during the Jan. meeting. Grace announced that a board of directors will be elected at the Feb. 12 meeting and that the name of the ATV park will be decided.

Membership fees to join the club are as follows:

  • Regular membership - $15 per year

  • Military membership (active duty or veteran) - $5 per year

  • Physical disability membership - $5 per year

  • Under 16 years of age membership - $5 per year

The Bell County Holler Crawlers meet on the second Tuesday of every month at the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of the old Bell County Courthouse in Pineville at 6 p.m. For more information or for a club application, contact Grace via e-mail at hollercrawlers@hotmail.com.
