Sentences continue to be handed down

MIDDLESBORO — Eleven people were recently handed sentences by Bell County Circuit Court Judge James Bowling for various crimes.

Brandon Butler, 23, of Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, has been sentenced on a charge of first degree possession of a controlled substance, following a guilty plea. Butler has been sentenced to two years in prison and that sentence is to run consecutively with two other sentences. In another sentencing Butler was sentenced to seven years in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; five years for receiving stolen property a firearm; 12 months for third degree possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Those sentences are to run consecutively with the other sentences handed down to Butler.

Cynthia Dawn Collier a/k/a Massengill, 49, of Pineville has been sentenced to two years in prison for trafficking in a controlled substance in the second degree, following a guilty plea.

Henry J. Lawson, 54, of Emlyn, Kentucky has been sentenced to two years in prison, following a guilty plea, of theft by unlawful taking or disposition over $300.

Mark Blansit, 38, of Pineville was found guilty, by a jury, of first degree sodomy and two counts of first degree sexual abuse. The jury found Blansit guilty and set a sentence of 20 years in prison for sodomy and five years, in prison, for two counts first degree sexual abuse and recommended the sentences run concurrently with each other.

Tara Sue Sanchez, 42, of the Kentucky Department of Corrections pleaded guilty to third degree burglary; 90 days in the Bell County Jail for disorderly conduct and 12 months in jail for resisting arrest. The sentences are to run consecutively with two other Bell County convictions.

Joey Philpot, 34, of Pineville has pleaded guilty to second degree possession of a controlled substance, second or greater offense and was sentenced to two years in prison. In addition he was sentenced to 12 months in Bell County Jail for possession of marijuana; and 90 days plus a $250 fine for second offense of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. On a second sentencing Philpot received five years in prison along with being a persistent felony offender. The sentences are to run consecutively with the previous sentence.

Robert Glenn Tucker, 34, of Middlesboro entered a guilty plea to second degree burglary and 212 days in the Bell County Jail for fourth degree assault. Tucker was given time served for the burglary charge and was placed on supervised probation for five years on the burglary charge.

Frederick S. Clay a/k/a Kanefsky, 22, of Middlesboro has pleaded guilty to second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception over $300 and sentenced to five years in prison, and 12 months in the Bell County Jail for theft by deception under $300. The sentences are to run concurrently with two other sentences. In another pleading he was sentenced for five years in prison for theft by unlawful taking or disposition over $300. The sentences are to run concurrently with the other pleadings. In a third pleading, Clay was sentenced to five years in prison for receiving stolen property over $300. He is to pay $342.50 restitution to Ralph T. Adkins.

William Daniel Drummond, 35, of Eastern Kentucky Department of Corrections pleaded guilty to first degree promoting contraband and sentenced to four years in prison.

Grady Eric William Dockery, 29, of Pineville has pleaded guilty to first degree wanton endangerment and was sentenced to four years in prison; for receiving stolen property over $300 he was sentenced to one year in prison and the sentences shall run consecutively with each other along with 12 months in the Bell County Jail for reckless driving and the sentences is to run concurrently with sentences imposed under the other counts of the indictment.

Penny Marie Otero, 27, of Middlesboro pleaded guilty to second degree trafficking in a controlled substance. She was sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail and is to serve 45 days and be placed on unsupervised probation for 24 months.
