The Pineville Mountain Lions bounced back from a tough loss at Corbin to defeat Williamsburg 71-60 Friday night.
Senior center Dustin Day poured in 31 points to the lead the Lions. He had 17 in the first haf as Pineville built a 36-31 lead.
Aaron Cunningham had the hot hand for Williamsburg in the second half. He scored 21 of his team-high 24 points after halftime.
Behind 11 points from Cunningham, the Yellow Jackets rallied to take a 53-51 lead after three.
But Pineville’s Day and James David Strange combined for 14 fourth quarter points and the Lions went 6-for-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to pull away for the 11-point win.
Strange finished with 18 points and Dusting Warren added 12 for Pineville.
Jacob Teague added 16 for Williamsburg.
The Lions (21-4) return to district play Monday as they host Knox Central. The Yellow Jackets (4-18) visit Model next Friday.
