He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Pineville, the son of the late Harry and Gladys Wilder Ball. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Middlesboro. He was also a member of the Middlesboro Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, and Roho’s. A member of the Middlesboro City Council, he had been the owner/operator of Tom’s Foods for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Ball and William Wallace Ball; one sister, Thelma Ruth Ball.
He is survived by the following members of his family: three children, John Randolph Ball and girlfriend Terry Marcum of Middlesboro, Carabeth Ball Williamson of Nashville, Tenn., and William Baylor Ball of Middlesboro; his constant companion, Sue Cline of Middlesboro; five grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Williamson, Jack Hunter Williamson, Ashley Elizabeth Ball, Brandyn Randolph Ball, and John Van Thomas Ball; ex-wife and special friend, Carole Ball and husband Stan Jones of Frankfort, Ky.; ex-mother-in-law, Elizabeth Buckner of Middlesboro; nieces: Pam (Tom) Toole, Vickie Partin, Cheryl (Ray) Yonkus and families; nephews, David (Martha) Gambrel, Freddie (Charlotte) Buckner, John (Renee) Buckner and families; sister-in-law, Louise Ball Hearn; brothers-in-law, Fred (Faye) Buckner, Rodney (Robin) Buckner; special friends, Charlie and Allison Manning and Little Buddy Peyton Manning; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Garry Bingham and George Pope Cawood presiding.
The family will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church for a procession to the Middlesboro Cemetery where graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be Darryl Wilder, Sonny Phillips, Chris Uhl, Alan Uhl, Lucas Carter and Vickie Partin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Ben Hickman, Safety Director James Pursifull, all members of the Middlesboro City Council, Dr. Neil Barry and his wonderful staff, Dr. Meredith Evans, George Pope Cawood, H.E. Uhl, Jack Ely, Charles Sigmon, and The NKB Members.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Roho’s or the charity of one’s choice.
