Two-county vehicle pursuit leads to meth-related arrest

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Anthony W. Collins of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., was arrested on Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, following a vehicle pursuit. Collins was charged with promotion of meth manufacturing, initiation of meth manufacturing and stop, halt, frisk.

Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray along with officers from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s office attempted to initiate a vehicle stop on Tuesday evening. The vehicle, containing Collins and another subject, was reported to be in the Jones Ridge area of Claiborne County area.

The vehicle refused to stop and led Ray and Sgt. Caldwell on a pursuit lasting several minutes and ending in Campbell County. During the chase several items used for methamphetamine manufacturing were thrown from the vehicle, which Sgt. Caldwell was able to retrieve.

Collins was apprehended but the second person was not. Ray is asking for any information about the identity and location of the other suspect. He can be contacted by calling the Claiborne County Sheriff’s office at 423-626-3385.

It was discovered after the arrest that Collins had additional active warrants in both Claiborne and Campbell Counties.
