Strange is coaches’ choice as 13th Region co-player of year

The 13th Region Boys Basketball Coaches Association has released its 2007-08 All-Region teams.

Pineville junior point guard James David Strange and Jackson County senior center Nick Brumbach are the co-players o f the year.

Pineville’s J.D. Strange is the 13th Region coach of they year.

Joining Strange and Brumback on the all-region first team are:

Pineville seniors Dustin Day and Dustin Warren, Matt St. John of South Laurel, Cumberland’s Desmond Johnson and Brock Leisge, Knox Central’s Jacob Scalf and Cody Miller, Clay County’s Justin Hobbs, Cawood’s Adam Rhymer, Barbourville’s Cody Messer, Josh Crawford, Madison Johnson of Corbin and Josh Seidel of North Laurel.

Second team all-region players include Bell County junior guard Shawnta Zachery, Middlesboro senior Daniel Griffin, sophomore Blaine Green and junior Nick Smith, Corbin’s Deke Barley, Josh Smith and Isaac Wilson, Clay County’s D.J. Wilson, Brooks Hogue and Garfield Wilson of Cumberland, Corey Williamson of Knox Central, Lynn Camp’s Jonah Mitchell, Nick Shannon of North Laurel, Matt Gilbert of South Laurel and Whitley County’s Jordan McCumbers.

The All-Region Teams, Player of the Year, & Coach of the Year were selected by the 13th Region Boys Head Basketball Coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
