The meeting was called to order by President Sandi Stapleton, and a devotion was given by Anna Sue Watson.
The treasurer’s report was approved as given by D.D. Thompson. A motion was made to dispense with the minutes of last month’s meeting.
In old business, Stapleton stated that she had prepared the oresident’s report to be sent in to the state and noted that club member Alice Overton had attended all of the required meetings to help the club meet the criteria to have an excellent rating. The motion was made and seconded that a tree be planted in her honor to thank her for the work she does for the club.
In other business, Stapleton reported to the club that J. Frank White Academy had won the contest to landscape around the new restroom facilities at Harrogate City Park. She presented the award of $500.
It was also reported that the City Garden has been attended to by a few of the members who cleaned out the centerpiece of old plantings and planted 100 bulbs.
In new business, a motion was made to set the date for an area-wide Spring clean-up.
The program for the meeting was presented by Dr. Edwin Robertson, chairman of the Harrogate Tree Board. He talked about the history of the walking trail in Harrogate, where it is now, and what it will take to complete the trail to Cumberland Gap High School.
Lunch for those attending the meeting was prepared by Cindi Robertson, D.D. Thompson and Judy Robertson.
