To the Editor:

On the front page of the March 29, 2008 Daily News Albey Brock is signing an Arbor Day Proclamation urging all citizens to plant trees for Arbor Day. Why? Plant trees to make our commonwealth beautiful. While at the same time our politicians sitting back and allowing loggers and coal companies to destroy our beautiful mountains. If someone would make these coal companies do what they are suppose to do by law when they are done stripping the mountains and plant a lot of trees like they are required to do instead of throwing some grass down and move on to the next mountain. Which is all they do.

Upset with gas prices

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my opinion about gas prices. It is not right for the gas company and oil companies to make 200 or 300 percent profit. No wonder the economy is in a bad condition, and nearing a recession. Rather than sending a check to boost the economy, bring gas prices back to $2.00 per gallon and freeze it there. Then people will have money to buy food and medical needs, to pay rent and home loan payments.

Why should the oil and gas companies rule and control the world’s economy and cause our country to fall in to a recession? No one in our government would have the guts to stand up to the oil and gas companies and tell them, “You can’t rob the American people by high gas prices and oil prices!” Don’t you think it’s about time to say we have had enough? Which will the candidates Hillary Clinton, Obama, or John McCain do? Why can’t they, if elected give the American voters that they would do something about oil and gas prices and help the economy of our government? Or does the gas and oil companies own our government? Are they bought off?
