CUMBERLAND GAP, Tenn. — At the Cumberland Gap Beer Board meeting on Monday, Joe Webb submitted at application for a beer license for his new restaurant — Chew-Choos BBQ and Brew. Webb said that the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and that he will be serving beer with meals, and not for take out. He says he plans to open the restaurant on Independence Day, July 4.

The Beer Board approved his application without objection.

Meanwhile, problems persist between the Cumberland Gap Beer Board and the UNC Club. The UNC club owes the town civil penalties for disobeying local laws. They have paid one fine of about $50, yet have more fines that are unpaid. City Attorney Robert Estep told the Board of Mayor and Alderman they have until Thursday, June 5, to pay the reminder of the fines. The board agreed they would take needed action, at their next meeting, if the fine is not paid by Thursday.
