Pedestrian hit by train in Fourmile dies

FOURMILE, Ky. — An 82-year-old woman who was hit by a train on Sunday died Monday morning at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn.

“82-year-old Mildred Lockard was standing near the railroad tracks off of Ky. Hwy. 2015 in the Fourmile area of Bell County. A CSX train was traveling North and observed Ms. Lockard near the tracks and immediately activated emergency stop and blew the whistle. According to the conductor, Ms. Lockard did not show any response to the whistle, did not clear the tracks, and was struck by the train. She was removed by Bell County EMS and flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center,” a release from Kentucky State Police states.

The accident is under investigation by the CSX railroad police and KSP Trooper Jeremy Lee. Troopers George Lawson and Tyson Lawson assisted Lee in the initial investigation.
