CLAIRFIELD, Tenn. — Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray announced yesterday that a drug investigation by his department resulted in the arrest of a Clairfield, Tenn., resident and the seizure of a meth lab.
According to Ray, information was received that a working meth lab was on a property located on Cox Road in Clairfield. Sgt. Melvin Bayless with the Sheriff’s Department, as well as 8th Judicial Drug Task Force Director Tony Clark arrived at the location in the late evening hours of July 9. With permission of the property owners they searched the premises and found the lab.
Arrested for promotion of meth and manufacturing was William Webb of Lafollette, Tenn. Bond was set at $25,000.
Bayless and Clark notified the East Tennessee Meth Task Force, who came to the scene to assist in the investigation and clean up of the lab.
“The identification and destruction of meth labs in the Claiborne County are ongoing,” said Ray. “Every available resource will be used to combat the manufacturing, promotion and use of this drug.”
