Bell Circuit Court hands down five sentences

PINEVILLE — Several sentences were recently handed down by Bell County Circuit Court. They are as follows:

Rita Lynn Hansard, 41, of Middlesboro plead guilty to three counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition over $300 and one count of theft under $300, while an employee at Claire’ Boutique. She was sentenced to five years in prison under the first three counts and to 90 days in the Bell County Jail on the fourth count and is to actually serve 90 days in jail, will be placed on supervised probation for five years and is ordered to repay $3,039.21 to Claire’s Boutique.

Jennifer Kay Shackleford, 37, of Middlesboro has plead guilty to theft by unlawful taking or disposition over $300 by taking a television valued at $1,500 which belonged to Larry Peters. Furthermore, she called Christopher Yates and attempted to influence him to not appear as a witness. She was sentenced to five years in prison, for both counts and placed on supervised probation for two years, and is to stay away from Christopher Yates. If she does not violate the terms of her probation, she will be placed on unsupervised probation for three years.

Michael Allen King, 31, of Middlesboro plead guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, second or greater offense; 12 months in the Bell County Jail for possession of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia; and 30 days in the Bell County Jail and fined $200 for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. The sentences are to run concurrently and run consecutively with Bell Indictment 03-CR-00217 and 04-CR-00069.

Ricky West, 43, of Fourmile pleaded guilty to first degree promoting contraband by introducing Hydrocodone into the Bell County Jail. He was sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail. That sentence was probated and he was placed on supervised probation for 24 months.

Ronnie Rose, 25, of Harrogate plead guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. He was sentenced to 90 days in the Bell County Jail, under both counts, and the sentences are to run concurrently with each other.
