The Justice Department awarded the Bell County Sheriff’s Department a check for over $18,000 for their portion of drug arrests and collection of illegal drugs, including marijuana, in the county. “Without the prosecutors, Neil Ward and Karen Greene Blondell, we just could not do this. They are the tops,” Sheriff Bruce Bennett said of the county’s prosecutors. “It takes all the court system, the police officers, the prosecutors, the judges. We are fortunate to have people committed to getting rid of drugs, it’s hard, but they are trying,” said Neil Ward. The funds will be used for surveillance equipment, undercover work, and a lot of other small things and we need help from the private sector,” explained Sheriff Bennett. (C.J.
