Cumberland Trails United Way (CTUW) board members and interested guests attended the 2009 Campaign Kick-Off, held Thursday at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.

Serving the counties of Bell, Harlan, Knox, Whitley, Claiborne, and Lee, CTUW supports 25 community agencies, several of which had representatives at the kick-off. Their annual campaign raises funds for these organizations and then distributes the funds as needed.

The slogan for the campaign is “Live United,” reflecting the organization’s mission to “strengthen the capacity of the organizations that provide community-building services and have a positive community impact in the tri-state area.” Refreshments were served and dulcimer music was supplied by Terry and Pam Lewis.
