She was born December 12, 1927, at Pearl, Ky., the daughter of the late John and Clara Brown Dixon. A member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, she was a full time homemaker and a loving mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Powers; a son, Ben Powers; a sister, Kizzie Reeves; and 3 brothers, J.D., Claude and Paul Dixon.
She is survived by 12 loving children, Beulah Napier, Riverside, Ohio, Freddie Joyce (Tom) Hensley, West Milton, Ohio, Glen (Joyce) Powers, Bainbridge, Ohio, Maxine Fyfe, Lancaster, Ky., Trula (Chris) Perdue, Wilmington, Ohio, Clint (Joyce) Powers, Frakes, Susan Powers, Middlesboro, Ted (Pam) Powers, Frakes, Pauline Collier, Middlesboro, Lonnie (Loraine) Powers Middlesboro, Faye (Greg Huffman) Powers, Lancaster, Ky., Luster (Carole) Powers, Middlesboro; brothers, Jack (Jeanette) Dixon, Seymour, Ind., Clyde Dixon, Barbourville, Ky.; sisters, Jessie Hurst, Pineville, Beulah Cobb, Frakes, Barbara (Henry) Partin, Frakes; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ulys Lynn Powers presiding. Music will be provided by Joyce Ann Maiden.
Interment will follow in the Powers Cemetery at Frakes. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Greg, Fred, Jamie (Lil Robert), Matthew, Giles, Theodin, Jonathan and Luke Powers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of all arrangements.
