CHENOA — Kentucky State Police (KSP) are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of an inmate that escaped from Bell County Forestry Camp on Thursday.

Joe Michael Spoonamore, age 36, reportedly walked away from the minimum security facility located in the Chenoa community of Bell County Thursday afternoon. An official with the Forestry Camp notified KSP Post 10 in Harlan, Ky., of Spoonamore’s escape.

Spoonamore was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white tee shirt. The man is caucasian with brown eyes, brown hair and a brown goatee and mustache. He is 5’10 and weighs 175 pounds.

Spoonamore was serving time for criminal convictions in Rockcastle County, Ky., where he has an extensive arrest record. He was last arrested January 17 of this year, just shy of two weeks after being released from the Rockcastle County Detention Center. He was sentenced to twelve years for the January 17 arrest on charges of receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance, first degree.

Police believe that he may be headed to Rockcastle County.
