CLAIBORNE CO., Tenn. — On Monday, officials were still searching for the body of a man who drowned in Norris Lake on Sunday.

The name of the man has not been released by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, but officers had spoken to friends that were with the man before he left. Sheriff David Ray said that according to his friends, the man was traveling alone in a pontoon. He was last seen between the bridge on Highway 33 and the Straight Creek Boat Dock on the main channel of Norris Lake.

Sheriff Ray said that it is believed that the man fell off of the pontoon. He said several agencies were helping in the search including the Bell County Rescue Squad and agencies in Claiborne and Union, Tenn. Counties. Once all the family of the victim have been notified, officials are expected to release the name of the man.
