BEVERLY, Ky. - Hazel Roark Collett Slusher, age 85 of Beverly, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the Saint Joseph Hospital, London, Ky.

She was born in Roark, Ky., on February 13, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Johnathon and Bertha Collett Roark. A member of the Cow Fork Primitive Baptist Church at Red Bird, she loved working at the Red Bird Mission. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and canning and she enjoyed getting phone calls from her special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Allen Collett; her second husband, Robert E. Slusher; a son, Albert Ben Slusher; brothers, Henry Roark and Alonzo Roark; sisters, Lucy Mae Nolan, Evelene Roark, Senora Hensley and Sadie Roark.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Tommy and Wilma Collett, Teddy and Shirley Collett, and Sue and Bob Simpson; grandchildren, Connie Jo (Kevin) Baker, Rodney Collett, Doug Collett, Susan (Dustin) Johnson and Amber Slusher; step-granddaughters, Lisa Meyers and Jennifer Jackson; four precious great-grandsons, Benjamin Caleb Baker, Elijah Cole Baker, Trenton Johnson and Hunter Johnson; brothers, Tom Roark and Carl Roark; two sisters, Mossie Nolan and China Brannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Beverly United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.D. Hensley, the Rev. Chad Hensley and the Rev. Tim Huddleston officiating. Music will be by Josh Peters, Alma Owens, Larry and Debbie Green.

Burial will be in the Asher Cemetery at Red Bird. Pallbearers will be Kevin Baker, Dustin Johnson, Rodney Collett, Doug Collett, Bob Simpson, Benjamin Caleb Baker and Elijah Collett Baker.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Slusher. Light a virtual candle or sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
