The Historic Bell Theater in downtown Pineville will host the WoodSongs Coffeehouse Concert series the second Saturday of each month beginning June 9 with a show by Michael Johnathan of Woodsongs fame.

The Bell Theater, a 1939 art deco movie and play house has hosted top performing artist and musical groups from around the world.

Recently the Bell added state of the sound equipment to make it a premium listening venue for music lovers. Table and chair seating close to the stage give listeners a cozy feeling while being entertained.

WoodSongs Coffeehouse chapters are a branch of the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, created by folk musician Michael Jonathan. The program is recorded each week before a live audience at the Kentucky

Theater in Lexington Kentucky and broadcast around the world by radio. Kentucky Educational Television airs also airs the live video taped show.

“Becoming a Coffeehouse for these shows seems to be a natural evolution for us” said Mike Crockett, Director of the Theater. “We want to see the young people in our area showcase their talents on the

same stage as the regional and nationally touring artists. Having Michael Johnathan here for the opening is a real treat.”

Along with the regular second Saturday shows, the WoodSongs Coffeehouse at the Bell Theater will have special shows on other dates depending on artist availability. Fresh homemade treats from local bakers and cooks will be offered along with gourmet coffee.
