The search for a Middlesboro woman who has been missing since Sunday after going for a walk continues with little development.

“There’s no change,” said Robbie Brumbach of the Bell County Rescue Squad. Brumbach and crews, along with members of the community, have been searching for Katherine Heck, 58, since Jan. 31. Brumbach said that his squad was getting more help from other departments and agencies, working “all day long.”

”We’re expecting to have more crews,” said Brumbach.

While the search teams aren’t following any major leads, they have changed their tactics.

“We’re focusing on what we call a grid pattern search,” said Brumbach. “We’re now doing things that we didn’t do before. We’re expanding out of the primary to a secondary [search area]. It’s a broader search,” he said.

The Bell Co. Rescue Squad and the Middlesboro Police Department have been assisted by search teams, rescue dogs, and helicopters from all over since Heck went missing on Sunday morning.

The family of Heck is offering a reward of $5000 for information leading to Heck’s recovery. She is 5’1”, 170 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue-green t-shirt, jeans, and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information can contact the Middlesboro Police Department at (606)248-3636.
