“Mission Hope” has become a common theme in the community, after siblings Jared and Jordyn Parker were critically injured in a car wreck last month.

Family and friends have taken up the cause to raise money for their continued medical care, and have planned a huge benefit concert for July 28. Both remain at UT Medical Center, over a month after their June 14 wreck.

The event will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until approximately 10 p.m. at the Claiborne High School football field. Children’s activities will begin at 3 p.m. and run until 7 p.m. and will include face painting and inflatables. A silent auction will be held and the winners will be announced from the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the door for a $5 donation. Kids ages 10 and under will be admitted free.

There will be lots of great music from individuals as well as local bands including: Dishwater Blonde, Grits, Shellaina Ely, Southern Steel, Steel Rain and Soul Bleeds.

The event organizers are proud to see the community rally around this cause.

“I’m humbled and awed at the goodness of people. So many have come forward to help with this event and it could not happen without any of them,” said Jennifer Hooper-Verno, the siblings’ first cousin. “It feels amazing to know that everyone sees the same beauty and spirit I’ve seen in my cousins everyday since they were born. I am thankful that the beauty and spirit is driving everyone to help us as well as driving them to continue to pray. Please keep praying.”

Justin Massengill, a brother to the two, added that the response to the event has been incredible.

“It means so much to all of us that everyone has been so gracious and eager to help Jared and Jordyn,” he said.

There will also be plenty of food and drink items for sale.
