Ten indicted on trafficking charges

The trendy theme of the indictments handed down recently by the Bell County Grand Jury was drug trafficking. Out of 14 indictments, 10 individuals were indicted for trafficking drugs.

Those include the following:

* Michael Shane Williams, 36 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and for being a felony offender;

* Roy James Johnson, 49 of Hulen, was indicted on two counts of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, one count of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Robert Philpot, 56 of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Merlin Nichols, 48 of Arjay, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Jamie Rogers of Harlan was indicted on the charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Dennis Dewayne Baker, 51 of Kettle Island, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Johnny Lawson of Pineville was indicted on two counts of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Rebecca J. Caldwell, 37 of Bledsoe, was indicted on the charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and complicity to commit first-degree trafficking a controlled;

* Mark E. Stephens, 36 of Coldiron, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Clyde Daniels Jr., 41 of Smith, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance.

The other indictments that were handed down included two burglary charges and two possession of a forged instrument charges. Those individuals were:

* Jack D. Gore Jr., 29 of Middlesboro, was indicted on three counts of third-degree burglary and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Joseph A. Cupp, 34 of Miracle, was indicted on third-degree burglary and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Freida Marlene Raines, 47 of Middlesboro, was indicted on second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument;

* Ashley Brown, 22 of Middlesboro, was indicted on first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
