After 21 years of service, a Middlesboro fireman has decided to retire.
“Lt. Glenn Webb has been an invaluable member of the Middlesboro Fire Department and has brought a wealth of experience based on his long history of dedicated service to this community,” said Middlesboro Fire Chief Tim A. Wilder.
Wilder also said Webb had a significant impact on the Middlesboro Fire and Ambulance Service through his leadership. Webb has served at the Middlesboro Fire Department since 1991 to 2012, 21 years.
According to Capt. Joe Asher, “Webb is a third generation fireman in his family. He came out at a time when the department was in the middle of a transition from old school to new school.”
Asher said he has also worked with Asher’s father as a fireman and it’s been a true honor.
Webb’s son Chris is currently an EMT and is looking in the direction of being a fireman as well, according to Asher.
The Middlesboro Fire Department honored Webb with a gold bugle for all his hard work and dedication. In the fire department, one bugle represents a lieutenant, according to a spokesman at the department.
“He has been a real role model and mentor for many firefighters and officers during his many years of public service,” added Wilder. “His experience will be sorely missed.”
