Imogene Ollie Minton, age 98 of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Middlesboro and Arthur, Tenn., entered her heavenly rest Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. She passed away at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewing and Bertha Smith Welch; husband, Howard R. Minton; son, Howard R. “Ray” Minton Jr.; son-in law, Thomas D. Huffaker; and ten brothers and sisters.
She had worked in the medical office of Dr. J. C. Ausmus Jr. as well as the Middlesboro Hospital. Imogene was known for her loving outreach to friends and neighbors and was a faithful member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Middlesboro and Gap Creek Baptist in Arthur, Tenn. She enjoyed reading, cross stitch quilting and visits with friends.
Left to cherish her memory are are daughter, Alta “Susie” Minton Huffaker with whom she lived; daughter-in-law, Della Minton of Yelm, Wash.; grandchildren, Dan (Rose Ann) and Howard “Bo” (Tracye) Huffaker, Bill (Debi) and Ron Minton, Teresa Minton (Scott) Feller; great grandchildren : Mike and Hayley Huffaker, Tyler Zwosta, Brianna Feller; sister, Virginia Reese; niece, Lynna Reese; nephew Steven (Sarah) Reese, all Monroe, Mich.; friends, Devada Wolfenbarger, Margie McHarris, Mary Ann, Shane and Pat Huffaker, JoAnn McGinnis and the Johnson family.
Mom Minton’s sense of humor and her prayers will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chad Burnett officiating. Music will be provided by Jane Cox.
Burial will be in the Hooper Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan and Bo Huffaker, Ralph “Dutch” Wolfenbarger, Erick Wolfenbarger, and Don Goins.
The family will receive friends noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
