Arthur L. Russell age 88 of Speedwell, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012.

He was born on June 11, 1924, in Speedwell, Tenn. He was retired from Consolidated Coal Company and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was married to the love of his life, Naomi Smith Russell for 67 years. He accepted Jesus into his heart and was a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church in Arthur, Tenn.. He loved his family and his farm. A devoted father, grandfather and friend, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, farmer, provider and protector. He was truly a man of great character.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield and Mintie (Honeycutt) Russell; brothers, Fred, Roy, Jim and Vonnie; sisters, Eva Crawford and Viola Smith, and son-in-law, Jerry Ausmus.

He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi; children, Nancy (Lee Roy) West, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Randy (Cookie) Russell, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Charlotte (Graylon) Wilson, Speedwell, Tenn., Danny Russell (special friend Mona), Speedwell, Tenn., Robin Ausmus, Speedwell, Tenn.; sister, Eula Gray Jones, Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren, Lee Ann (Darrell) Walker, Nichole (Brian) Goins, Tonya (Robbie) Davis, Candy McMurray, Tarra Wilson, Josh (Donna) Russell, Amanda (David) Taylor, Melissa West Russell, Cara Beth (Jason) Couch, Jessica West Russell; great-grandchildren, Westlee and Courtney Walker, Ciara, Brianna and Leevi Goins, Haley Beth McMurray, Katie Russell, Hunter Davis, Kaitlyn West, Isaiah Daniels, Pierce and Jaxon Taylor; and special friends, Carl and Ailene Powell, Lowell Evans and Scott Duncan.

He was loved by many family and friends and will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be at Reece Valley Chapel on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 5-7:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m., with Chad Burdette, Tommy Russell and Darrell Walker presiding.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Russell Cemetery. Pallbearer will be Brian Goins, Jason Couch, David Taylor, Josh Russell, Westlee Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Roy West, Graylon Wilson, Lowell Evans, Scott Duncan and Dr. Nitin Patel.
