A Pineville man was been arrested Friday night after a multi-vehicle accident. At approximately 6 p.m. Friday units from the Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan responded to the accident in the Pineville area of Bell County.
According to a Kentucky State Police press release, a 2001 Chevrolet passenger car operated by Chad Martin of Pineville was traveling North on U.S. Highway 119. At the junction of U.S. Highway 119 and U.S. Highway 25 E, Martin ran the red light and struck a 1995 Ford Dump truck operated by William Wilson of Middlesboro, and then a 2008 Lincoln sport utility vehicle operated by Shirley Burnett of Pineville. The impact caused the Lincoln to then strike a 1998 Chevrolet passenger care operated by Marcus Maiden of Pineville, and then a 1994 Pontiac passenger car operated by Jennifer Smith of Miracle.
Martin ended up striking the roadside curb and coming to rest in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 25 E.
Jennifer Smith and her passengers, Kathy Howard of Miracle, Juanita Wilder of Miracle, and Katherine Wilder of Miracle, were transported to the Pineville Community Hospital. Shirley Burnett was taken to Knox General Hospital by private vehicle.
Martin was arrested by officer Jason Freeman of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center. Other charges are pending.
The accident is under investigation, and KSP Trooper Brian Green is in charge. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper George Howard of Post 10, Officer Jason Freeman of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Pineville Police Department, Bell County EMS, and the Bell County Rescue Squad.
Secondly, we need to find out if Chad Martin is kin to any politicians in Bell County before any legal action is pursued. That will save the county time and money.
Third, we need to check Chad's background and see if he was traumatized in his childhood by demanding parents or bullys in school. That could explain his desire to "soak down a few" and get out on the highways!!!
Finally, those other drivers should understand that drunk drivers need more space to maneuver, and give them more room.....duh!!
Don't worry Chad, you'll be out doing it again in no time!! Emphasis on the "no time".
