Staff report

The Yellow Jacket golf team wrapped up an undefeated conference season on Thursday with wins over Harlan and Harlan County in a tri-match at Middlesboro Country Club.

MHS improved their season record to 33-8 by posting a team total of 164. Harlan County shot 188 to finish second and Harlan finished with a 220. Leading the way for the Jackets was senior co-captain Michael Wilson with a 1-under 35. J.P. Maiden and Eric Francis each shot 42. Micah Robbins posted a 45, while Luke Boyd carded a 52 for the Jackets.

“This was a great victory for us. To go unbeaten in the conference was something the guys really wanted to do,” said Jackets coach Greg Lasley. “Michael was once again very solid and really set the tone for the whole day. It was great to get the win for the four seniors playing their last home match.”

Over the weekend Wilson competed in the All “A” State Golf Tournament at Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Somerset. He didn’t have one of his better days as he shot an 86 to finish in a tie for 46th place.

The Jackets return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Jonesville, Va., to take on Lee High.
