SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University men’s golf team equaled their first-round score , firing a second-day total of 305, but fell into a 12th-place finish at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate. Play was completed on Tuesday afternoon at the River Course at Sevierville Golf Club, a 6,994 yard par 72.
The Railsplitters posted rounds of 305 and 305 to finish with a total team score of 610, good for 12th place in the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate. Belmont Abbey captured the two-day event with rounds of 290 and 292 to finish five strokes ahead of runner-up Columbus State. Clayton State finished in third with a two-day total of 588, while three South Atlantic Conference teams rounded out the top-five. Lenoir-Rhyne, Catawba and Newberry finished in a tie for fourth at 595 overall.
Senior Jamie Chapman posted a five-over round of 77 on day two to go along with his two-under par round of 70 on day one. Chapman showed his resolve in today’s round with five consecutive birdies to end the outing with a two-day total of 147, garnering a tie for 17th place.
Braden Galyon turned in the low round of the day for the Railsplitters with a two-over 74, notching a two-day total of 153 to earn a tie for 38th. Connor Froning fired a four-over 76 today to go along with a 78 in yesterday’s round, finishing the event with a total score of 154 and a 47th-place finish.
Tre Mullins shot his second-consecutive round of 78 to finish with a two-day total of 156 and a tie for 54th place. Tyler Davis rounded out the team play with rounds of 79 and 82 to cap the event in 67th.
Competing as an individual, Richard Allen Hoskins fired rounds of 80 and 83 to finish in 75th-place.
Belmont Abbey’s Adam Hedges captured the individual crown with round of 71 and 67 to finish six-under par.
The Railsplitters will be back in action on September 24th as they open play at the Tusculum Fall Classic, slated to be played at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tennessee.
