Lonnie Simpson, age 69 of Pineville, passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Pineville on April 9, 1943, and was a son of the late Clarence and Annie Green Simpson. Lonnie was a member of Our Father’s House and he had worked for CSX Railroad for 33 years as a backhoe operator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Simpson; and a sister, Evelyn Hensley.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Harding Simpson; daughter, Shannon Anderson; step-children, Alisa Johnson, Jack Howard, Catina Howard and Shane Howard; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Joann Willis and Christine Carver; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special Hospice workers.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Baird and the Rev. Odie Carroll presiding. Music was by Billy Baird and Our Father’s House Singers.

Burial was in the Simpson Cemetery at Pineville with Shane Howard, Jack Howard, William Marsee, Luke Johnson, Cameron Johnson and Dustin Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Fugate, Dr. DeVore, Dr. Deleese and special nurses, Margaret and Bill.

The family received friends on Saturday from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Arnett & Seele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Simpson Family. Light a virtual candle or sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
