David Colson Asher, age 94 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the Tri-State Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrogate, Tenn.
He was born at Red Bird on Feb. 2, 1918, and was the son of George and Verda M. Creech Asher. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pineville and had retired from the GM Truck and Coach Plant in Pontiac, Mich., as an inspector and union representative. He had served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Napier Asher; and brothers and sisters, Sally Slusher and husband Albert, Douglas Asher, Clayton Asher, Fannie Howard and husband Ted; and brother-in-law, Glen Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Tishie Helton Morgan Asher; children, Kathleen (Asher) Boyle and husband Daniel, David C. Asher Jr. and wife Kathryn, Claude D. Asher and wife Tracey and Ida May (Asher) Dennis and husband David; grandchildren, David Thomas Boyle, Carolyn Teriesa Dennis, Margaret Elizabeth Asher, Alan Douglas Dennis and Andrew Asher; sisters, Lou Ross and Georgellen Swinford and husband Carl; sister-in-law, Miriam Asher; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services were at 11 a.m. Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Suntken presiding. Burial followed in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
