William “Walter” Dunn, age 84 of Speedwell, Tenn., was a life-long follower of the Lord Jesus Christ since his conversion at age 26. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.

Walter began woodworking in the 1950’s and started his own business, Dunn’s Woodworking, in November 1963, where he loved to work, he never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel with friends or strangers (friends he hadn’t yet met). He joined three USA mission trips, and 47 international mission trips. He was a member of the Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church and Cumberland Gap Camp of the Gideons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Ruth Dunn; parents, Charles L. and Sarah Margaret Shipley Dunn; sister, Ocie Ruth; and step-mother, Flora Dunn Phillips.

He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Dunn; son, Ronald (Cathy) Dunn; brother, C.L. (Etta) Dunn Jr ; sisters, Faye (Bill) Messer and Itha Martin; grandchildren, Matthew Dunn, Deanna and Chad Johnson, Dustin and Lyndsi Roark and Carla Dunn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby Comparoni, Opal and CJ Simmons, Bill and Agnes “Bozzy” Jones, Martha Prill and Roy Mayes; and nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Carr’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, funeral followed at 8 p.m.

Graveside services are today at 11 a.m. in Harrogate Cemetery.
