HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Railsplitters trailed early but responded with seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-1 win over the Anderson University Trojans on Saturday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex. The win takes Lincoln Memorial to 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play and 5-2-1 on the season, while the Trojans fall to 1-2-1 in league play and 1-7-1 on the season.

Anderson University opened the game with a score at the 4:47 mark, as Ludwig Nordin took advantage of a deflection at the fron of the net to put the Trojans out to a 1-0 lead.

That score was answered quickly as the Railsplitters erased the Trojan advantage with a score in the 14th minute. Diego Deschamp notched that score as he used a pass up the left side from Leonardo Germniani and beat the keeper to knot the game at 1-1. Chris Nash also tallied an assist on the play. For Deschamp, that was his fifth goal of the season.

The Railsplitters quickly took the lead, as Callum Home scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 26th to put LMU on top, 2-1.

From that juncture, LMU worked to extend their lead. Mario Pinto scored two consecutive goals with one coming in the 41st minute and another coming in the 56th to put the Railsplitters on top, 4-1. Pinto’s second goal of the day took his total to seven for the season which leads the South Atlantic Conference.

Chris Nash scored his fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute with a lazer from outside of thirty yards to push the Railspitters out to a 5-1 lead.

The final two goals came off the foot of Pedra Villa, as he tallied his first and second career collegiate goals in the 81st and 88th minute to solidify the Railsplitters’ 7-1 triumph.

Marcel Barwanietz and Brady Seehorn combined for 90 minutes in goal and a save for the Railsplitters. On the other side, Lukas Hesse and Devon Ashy played 90 combined minutes and made eight stops.

The Railsplitters finished with 27 shots and 15 shots on goal in the contest while limiting the Trojans to only six shots total and two on goal. LMU recorded nine corner kicks to only two for Anderson University.

Lincoln Memorial University will be back in action today as they travel to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene University in nonconference action. That match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
