A group of 7th and 8th graders from Bell County won the Christian Cup, taking first place in a tournament at Heritage Christian Academy in Tazewell, Tenn., this weekend.

Friday night the Bell County girls defeated Gateway Christian Academy 47-27. Bethany Miracle led the way with 14 points while Alex Brock added 12 and Caleigh Collett 11.

In Saturday’s semifinals is was Bell getting past host Heritage Christian 38-20. Miracle again led the team with 14 points with Brock chipping in with nine.

Saturday’s championship game saw Bell County down Pineville 49-26. Miracle poured in 22 points in that one while Brock added 11 and Collett 10.

“All of the girls played extremely hard and represented themselves, their schools and their team well,” said Bell County coach David Teague.

For winning the tournament Bell County gets to keep the Christian Cup for the year. The Christian Cup is a rotating trophy that goes to the winner of the tournament each year. This was the third year Heritage Christian has hosted the tournament.
