Staff Report

There were two armed robberies that took place on Sunday in Bell and Harlan counties. One ended with an arrest.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a call in reference to a robbery in the Ferndale community of Bell County. The caller, Charles York, stated two men entered his home, assaulted him with a baseball bat and stole money, medication and a phone, according to a release from KSP.

The release stated that according to the victim, the masked perpetrators were also armed with a small handgun. York was injured during the altercation and was transported to Pineville Community Hospital for treatment.

The perpetrators were allegedly driving a red Ford Explorer. The case remains under investigation by KSP Det. Bryan Johnson.

In Harlan county on the same day, Post 10 responded to an armed robbery complaint in the Dayhoit community. Wendy Inman called Post 10 advising that one white male had approached her in her driveway, presented a handgun and demanded money, according to the press release.

The release stated, Inman gave her purse to the gunman and he left on foot. However, Inman was able to identify a vehicle that was possibly involved in the robbery.

Troopers responded to the scene, obtained the information about the suspect and the vehicle that was possibly involved. Troopers were able to arrest two men believed to be involved in the crime, according to the release.

Charles Goins, 41, of Loyall, and Jonathan Bushnell, 28, of Harlan, were both arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
