Staff Report

A Middlesboro man was allegedly robbed by four men and assaulted on Tuesday after being offered a ride home.

According to Kentucky State Police Det. Bryan Johnson, Thomas Dillman, stated a maroon Chevy Cavalier approached him, while he was using a payphone at Binghamtown BP.

Johnson said the operator of the Cavalier allegedly called Dillman by name and asked him if he wanted a ride. Dillman got into the vehicle. Instead of a ride home, the individuals in the car took him to Beans Fork, allegedly forced him out of the vehicle and began assaulting him.

It was reported that the alleged perpetrators robbed Dillman, taking approximately $200.

Dillman told police two of the men involved were white and two were African American, and one of the men was armed with a gun, according to KSP.

Johnson said KSP received a call regarding the robbery from an individual who was in the area at the time of the assault. The caller stated he had driven up on the four men assaulting Dillman. The caller advised the men got in their vehicle and fled when he drove up.

Johnson responded to the call and located the suspected vehicle at 1212 Exeter Avenue in Middlesboro.

The case is still under investigation by Johnson.
