HARROGATE, Tenn. — Lincoln Memorial University head men’s basketball coach Josh Schertz has announced that Boyd County High School guard Austin Hunt has signed his national letter of intent to play basketball for the Railsplitters.

The Ashland native is considered one of the top senior prospects in the 16th Region as well as the entire state of Kentucky. The 6’2 and 190 pound guard was ruled ineligible last season by the KHSAA after transferring into Boyd County High School. As a sophomore, he led Russell High in scoring at better than 16 points per game.

“Austin is a power guard,” said Schertz. “He is sneaky athletic, and has the size and strength to play either the 2 or 3. He has also handled it well enough to play the point in an emergency. He is physical, tough, and super competitive. On top of that, Austin is the total package, a big-time student who comes from a great family. He will be a tremendous ambassador for our university.”

The Railsplitters jumped out to a 2-0 start for the fifth-consecutive season by taking a 95-58 victory over Bob Jones University last Friday. LMU had their first test of the season Tuesday at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.
