Tom Hatfield, age 84, Middlesboro, KY passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Claiborne Co. Hospital. He was born on August 10, 1928 in Claiborne Co., TN, the son of the late Alvis and Rowenie Hatfield. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth and Roy D. Hatfield; sisters, Mayme Gober, Elsie Hopper, Ethel Satness and Ruth Yeary; brothers, Ira, Troy and Harvey Hatfield. Tom had a strong belief in Jesus Only faith, was a loving husband, father, and avid musician.

He is survived by his wife, Retha “Jerry” Hatfield; his children: Rosie (Larry J.) Huff, Thomas A (Sherry) Hatfield, Rowena “Nina” (David) Shoemaker and Jackie Ray (Lori) Hatfield; his grandchildren: Brian Huff, Kimberly (David Hoyt, II) Smith, Thomas Lee (Vanessa) Hatfield, Jeanine (Josh) Lester, Stephanie (Justin) Duncan, Katelyn Hatfield, Kristina A Marcum, David S. Shoemaker; Ashley S (Stephen) Cambron, Sean M. Hatfield, and Christine Atwood; his great-grandchildren: David Elijah Smith, Logan Brinkley, Courtney Hatfield, Makayla Hatfield, Nicholas Samuel,and Andrew Lester, Chase Duncan, Skyler Duncan, Delena Sitterly, Kenneth Austin Sitterly, and Mason Ray Hatfield; mother-in-law, Leatha Henderson; brother-in-laws: William A. Yeary, Clayton McDaniel, Fred McDaniel, Randy McDaniel, Danny McDaniel and Terry McDaniel; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Medley and Rev. Michael Wynn officiating. Music will be provided by Tim Dyche, Rev. Michael and Donna Wynn, Linda Pearl Engle and Grandson, David Shoemaker. Pallbearers will be Larry Brian Huff, Thomas Lee Hatfield, David Shoemaker, Sean Hatfield, Joseph Henderson, and Aaron White. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry J. Huff, David Shoemaker Sr., Stephen Cambron, David Hoyt Smith II, Mark Ferguson, Nicholas Lester, Jeff Hopper, Tony Yeary, Paul Yeary, Larry Yeary, Roger Fairchild, Dr. Vincente Kaw and staff, and Dr. Luis Pannocchia. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
