A Middlesboro man has been arrested on robbery charges.

Andrew Gerding, 31, was arrested for second-degree robbery after he allegedly used force to accomplish theft at Walmart last week.

According to the arrest citation, Gerding attempted to steal $1,181.94 worth of merchandise from the store. He allegedly used physical force against Walmart employees who attempted to stop the theft.

The citation stated a female shopper was knocked down during the alleged robbery.

Upon arrival of Middlesboro Police Officer Josh Pratt, he found Gerding physically fighting with two or three employees in the roadway.

Gerding was released from the detention center on Saturday.

In other police news, Christopher Thacker, 23, of Middlesboro, was arrested on second-degree burglary charges last week. He was also arrested by Pratt.

According to the citation, Thacker entered a home on Manchester Avenue and stole items from the residence. Thacker was also charged with third-degree terrorist threatening after he threatened to hit an officer if they placed him in handcuffs.

As of Monday afternoon, Thacker remained in custody at the Bell County Detention Center.

A Pineville man was also arrested last week on a receiving stolen property charge. Jonathan S. Widner, 21, was arrested on the charge after he allegedly pawned a 47-inch LG LCD television to Middlesboro pawn for $120.

According to the citation, the television was stolen from Aarons and valued at $1,349.99. He was released from the detention center on Friday.

Other felony arrest made recently include:

* Jason R. Barnes, 32, of Ewing, Va., was arrested on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance;

* Joe Alton Howard Jr., 29, of Pineville, was arrested on the charge of receiving stolen property under $10,000.
