HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lady Railsplitters’ three-game winning streak was snapped with a 70-56 loss to the Trojans of Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action on Saturday at Tex Turner Arena. With the loss, Lincoln Memorial University drops to 8-6 on the year and 1-3 in the South Atlantic Conference. Anderson improves to 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in the SAC with the win.

The Lady Railsplitters and Trojans played to a 4-4 tie by the 14:42 mark of the opening half of play, but Anderson broke away with a 15-0 run to assume command of the game. Lincoln Memorial was limited to a 6-25 effort from the field (24 percent) in the first half, as they never trailed by less than 13 after that initial run by the Trojans. AU built their largest lead of the half at 40-15 following a pair of free throws by Alissa Diaz with 27 seconds remaining in the period. Kortnay Cox, however, drained a jumper as time expired in the half to send LMU to the break trailing 40-17.

The Trojans continued to hold sway throughout the second half, extending their lead to 26 with a three-pointer by Madison Floyd with 6:23 remaining in the contest. Over the next five minutes, the Lady Railsplitters capped a 22-4 run with a pair of free throws from Kalasia Green with 1:28 remaining to cut the deficit back to single-digits for the first time since the 11:18 mark of the first half. Trailing 64-56, the Trojans concluded the game on a 6-0 run to seal a 70-56 victory over the Lady Railsplitters.

Kalasia Green paced Lincoln Memorial offensively with a game-high 16 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor. Kelsey Bradford added 14 points on 4-10 shooting. MaRanda Boddie notched seven points and tallied three blocks, while Elliotte Roberts and Ralissa Nelson scored six and five points respectively.

The Lady Railsplitters finished with a 35.2 percent mark from the field and struggled from the three-point line to the tone of a 4-22 effort.

Diaz paced the Trojans with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Her 10 rebounds led the Trojans to a commanding 50-29 advantage on the glass. Sierra Simpson added 13 points and eight rebounds while Tilde Ahlin and Breonda Shannon notched eight and six points respectively.

The Lady Railsplitters will return to action on Wednesday, as they welcome Brevard College to town for a South Atlantic Conference showdown at 6 p.m.
