Staff Report

A Middlesboro man is behind bars after allegedly being involved in a robbery attempt. Daryl L. Garrett, 42, was arrested Friday by officer Justin Barton of the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD) on the charge of second-degree robbery.

According to the arrest citation, Garrett pushed a Walmart Loss and Prevention worker after being stopped for shoplifting on Tuesday. Garrett also allegedly attempted to hit the employee.

As of Friday afternoon, Garrett remained in custody at the Bell County Detention Center.

A Middlesboro man was also arrested on complicity to commit theft over $500 this week. Robert Price, 37, was arrested by Barry Cowan of the MPD after allegedly assisting someone in stealing from Walmart.

According to the arrest citation, Price and two others entered the store on Tuesday. When the three exited, one individual was pushing a computer valued at $898.

Price was also charged with theft under $500 because of a theft that occurred on Thursday. When he returned to the store on Thursday, Walmart Loss and Prevention allegedly witnessed Price put on new boots and place his old boots inside the shoe box. He allegedly exited the store while wearing the new boots.
