Mary Edna Barton, 63 of Middlesboro, went to meet the Lord after a lengthy illness so peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 5, 2013 at the Rockcastle Hospital/Respiratory Care Center. She was born Sept. 8, 1949 in Bell Co., KY, a daughter of the late Sterling and Clara Raney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son: James Edward Rodney Barton; 2 brothers: Sterling Raney, Jr., and Douglas Raney; 2 sisters: Billie Jean Hill and Kelly Sue England; very special friend: Collean Lay.

She had been a homemaker and devoted wife to George Edward Barton for 43 years and was a believer in the Baptist faith and member of the Meldrum Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: loving mother to her children: William Douglas (Brooke) Barton of Harrogate, TN., James Christopher (Samantha) Barton of Harrogate, TN., and Ladessia Nicole Barton of Middlesboro; loving step-mother to: Marvin Edward (Judy) Barton of Middlesboro, Randy Lee (Lynn) Barton of Peru, IN., and Robin Regina (Johnny) Clevenger of Pineville; her love was unconditional for her 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 2 special brother-in-laws: William Tyrone and Robert Barton, Jr.; special sister-in-law: Joan Barton; special aunt: Deloris Barton; brothers and sisters: David Raney, Eddie (Patricia) Raney, Betty (Charlie) Helton, Ollie Howerton (Bill Strunk), Cleo (Gary) England, Jodie (Alfred) Bell; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends left to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Meldrum Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Richard Barnett and David Fuson presiding. Music by Barry Barton, Jared Barton, Alan Barton, Linda Barton and Nicole Mike. Interment will be at the Yellow Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William, Christopher, Marvin and Travis Barton, Eddie Ray Howerton, Timothy Hubbard, Steve Hill and Bobby Cox. Honorary Pallbearers and special recognition to the Westwing Staff of the Rockcastle Hospital/Respiratory Care Center and the Meldrum Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Meldrum Missionary Baptist Church.
